Universal design helps make products easier to use and spaces more accessible for homeowners of various physical ability levels. Because Kolbe Gallery is committed to accommodating the needs of all homeowners, we offer a variety of options intended to support those with physical limitations while maintaining the beautiful appearance of our Ultra and Heritage Series products. From door sills that create a flush surface for smoother passage between the interior and exterior, to window and door hardware designed to enhance ease of operation, our options make living at home more comfortable.

Hardware options are specially designed for operational ease, regardless of mobility or motor coordination. Longer casement and awning handles with larger knobs make gripping and operating easier. Larger lock levers ease the process of securing multi-point casements. Crank handle kits for double hungs allow the bottom sash to be operated with minimal effort.

Levers for swinging doors are much easier to handle than round door knobs, and are available in a variety of beautiful styles and finishes. Lever handles are standard on inswing patio doors and available for entrance doors.

Aluminum sill ramp kits for Garden-Aire sliding patio doors improve the transition from indoors to outdoors. Wider interior and exterior door sizes provide additional space for those who use mobility aids.  Bronze anodized ADA-compliant sills for swinging doors create a flush surface for easy access.

Ultra & Heritage Series wood windows and doors are available with these and other universal design options. Many of these options meet standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
